Blagojevich, Ex-Illinois Governor, Sentencing

Okay, today, December 7, 2011, Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years; with a sugar coating of 'Oh, he will, probably, only serve just 85% of his sentence, 12 years.' Right! Twelve years of his girls not having a father in their lives; and the scar of having a convicted felon, for a father, inflicted upon them. And, people wonder why children become a public liability; or exhibit unacceptable behavior, including crime? Yes, these girls were taught a real lesson, weren't they; that the U.S. justice system, is a crock!

Let's be real! I have a problem with the people that doesn't see anything wrong with this sentencing, this picture. Fourteen years because he stepped on the wrong political toes; this is okay ... a sentence worse than a majority of murderers receive? There is something, definitely, wrong with the U.S. Justice System! Murray, the Doctor convicted of killing Michael Jackson, only received 4 years; and he, allegedly, murdered Michael Jackson. The message that I am receiving, and that children are receiving, I am sure, is that as long as you aren't involved in Politics, where you step on the wrong 'golden' toes; you can murder anyone, and, all that you might receive, is a slap on the hand. However, do not get involved in politics, if you do not want to receive a long jail sentence; although, politics is a cut throat career. Because ALL politicians must cheat, lie, etc., in order to further their careers! The trick is that you do not want to get caught, not willing to share, by other politicians; or give them their cut; especially, if you do not intend to follow their 'inside' rules, and want to step on the wrong toes.

Plus, (my opinion), this seems like a political 'Democrat' hunt; similar to a witch hunt. I can almost be sure that everyone, including the Judge, involved in Blagojevich's conviction (NOT counting the jury; I will speak about what I believe that their part was, later), and sentencing, have to be Republicans, or voted so (again, my opinion)! Another Republican versus Democrat political tug-a-war! I am curious to know; why doesn't the media stick their noses, into this aspect; like they do in everything else? Yes, I have an issue with the media, also. If anyone read my other HUB, it will be seen that I believe the media are the leaders of Public Opinion, involving cases, before the person, even, can get a fair, unbiased, day in Court!

This brings the jury, to attention. I, truly, believe that the jury was tampered with, by the media, public opinion, and the majority of public expectation! Not anyone is going to make me believe that these jury members heard nothing about this case, as much as it has been in the media, televised, including Blagojevich's television appearances; and was not influenced by any of it! Plus, they were not, even, sequestered! And, as much as people were talking about it; I cannot believe that they have not heard anything, while the trial was going on, by mouth, television, being on their computers, anyway, etc.

Also, all of this negative talk taking place about him (referring to Blagojevich) getting what he deserved, his sentence should have been harsher, etc.; all I can say is that I believe in KARMA! All of you that feel this way, that feel as if they can throw stones, at a glass house ... if anything go astray for you, with yourself, family, or friends, think back to when you had these bad thoughts about someone else, and their family! Only time will tell.

This Country is going to the dogs; or, maybe, we are there, already! How can the U.S. sit back, and judge, what is going on with other Countries, their political systems, democracy, justice, etc.; and we do not, even, practice any of these, in our Country, anymore. When are people in this Country going to wake up, and realize that our civil liberties, freedoms, and fair justice, are going down the drain ... that our Country is, desperately, in need of help?

What we have are people that are only chasing after their own interest, their own power, making a name, etc.; and, yes, I am, even, including those that are going around, boasting about their part, in taking down, and persecuting (and, yes, I mean persecuting, not prosecuting) Blagojevich. How long, before we hear that these same people are running for a higher, an important, top, public office; including President, which wouldn't surprise me. And, how many of you gullible souls, will not be standing in line, to support them? They will be the ones profiting, not you; however, I suppose, just as you are blind to what really happened in court, today; you will be blind when this occurs, also.

Name me ONE politician that doesn't cheat, lie, run their mouth, etc.? You cannot, can you? So, why is Blagojevich going to prison, he was, only, doing his job; being a low down politician? He didn't murder, anyone. Ryan did, however; six beautiful children, that does not get a chance to grow up, marry, have children, etc. They do not , even, get a chance to vote for a crooked politician; yet, their murderer got only 6 and a half years! Something just does not set right with me, here. This is what is unfair, and so unjust! Ask the parents! This sentence of Blagojevich, I am sure, probably, came as a blow to them, as they think of, and pray, for their 6 losses. Did anyone think of how this 14 year sentence would affect them? My heart goes out to them; that their loss was so undermined!

I can, probably, go on and on; however, the point that I would like to make, is that I believe that Blagojevich's sentencing was just too harsh. I am not saying that he should have, or should not have, received some prison time. I do not believe this is up to me, nor anyone else to judge. One day, like anyone else, he will come face to face with his maker. And, after, all of this, who does this sentencing really help? It isn't like he was out there, physically, hurting anyone. What I find him guilty of, even after an indictment was handed down, was running his mouth. Maybe, his punishment should have been to wear a dog muzzle; especially, when out in public. Seriously, I am saying that his sentence is worse than recent murderers had received, lately; and, I, truly, believe, that the WRONG message sent out; especially, to our children. I do know that the people that this sentencing are hurting, are the children, his, and ours. This is a case representative of children having to pay for their parent's sin; and, as a nation, this could have been prevented.

This did not have to be taken so far. After all, Blagojevich was removed from his position; and, stripped of his law license. Wasn't this enough punishment? What the Judge could have done, if he wanted him to suffer, and pay, more, was order that he, nor his wife, could profit, in any way, from any movies, books, acting (reality shows, or any shows), nor they get paid for any kind of recognition, that is derived from Blagojevich's downfall from his political grace. Any money made from any of these things, by anyone, the Judge could have ordered, was to go towards the millions, that he is allegedly to had racked up in debt. Now, that would have been a suitable, just, punishment, for his alleged treachery!

Our political/justice system, definitely, need an overhaul; and, obviously, need to be revamped, ASAP, and made fair; laws and all! I know that other Countries are, really, laughing at us, now! The U.S. need to get, and keep, their noses out of other Countries business; as we have a lot of work that need to be done here, within the U.S., first. No matter what, my heart strings are being pulled, as my concern keep coming back to the children; on how they are going to, even, have to endure more, by this outcome, than they already had to live down.
